SmoothGlo is a sequential treatment that uses two complementary technologies developed by Lumenis:
- Intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment is a versatile procedure that can treat more than 30 common skin concerns, including rosacea, broken capillaries, hyperpigmentation, and photodamage. An IPL (aka photofacial) uses broadband light to target brown and red pigments in the skin. It also induces new collagen production to help firm skin and smooth lines and wrinkles.
- VoluDerm radiofrequency (RF) microneedling uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin’s surface to safely deliver RF energy into the dermis. This elicits a healing response that promotes new collagen production. Clinical studies conducted by Lumenis showed that this also results in three times as much naturally occurring hyaluronic acid—a sugar molecule in the skin that binds water to collagen—for skin that’s more hydrated and plumper.
When performed in sequence, this innovative two-step treatment provides better results than the two would alone, leaving skin smoother, brighter, and firmer over time. SmoothGlo is a sequential treatment that targets the three biggest signs of aging skin – tone, texture, and volume. It uses two complementary technologies: intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment and VoluDerm radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. The IPL treatment targets brown and red pigments in the skin and stimulates collagen production. At the same time, RF microneedling delivers energy into the dermis to stimulate a healing response and increase hyaluronic acid production.
Before your SmoothGlo treatment, it’s important to avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks. This includes sunbathing, tanning beds, and self-tanning products. You should also avoid any skincare products that might irritate your skin, such as retinoids or exfoliating agents, for a few days before your treatment.
While SmoothGlo is commonly performed on the face, it can also be used on the neck, chest, arms, the back of hands, and other places on the body. This makes it a versatile treatment for addressing signs of aging on various parts of the body.
For optimal results, it’s usually recommended to start with a series of 3-4 treatments.
